Concrete is the whole business
We're concrete contractors, and that's all we do. Driveways, patios, sidewalks, footings, foundations, slabs, pavers and block, plus the demolition that comes first when there's something failed already sitting there. Commercial and residential, both, with over twenty years of it behind us.
Around Tampa the ground is sand, and sand moves when water runs through it. That's why a slab here can look perfect for two summers and then drop a corner. Rain arrives most afternoons from June onward, the water table sits high, and every storm is looking for a path under your concrete. If the sub base was never compacted, or the fall was never set, the water finds that path and takes the sand with it.
So most of what you're paying for is under the surface. Cut out the soft ground, compact what goes back in, set the grade so the water leaves, get the steel in, then pour early and cut the joints before the slab picks its own crack. Do that and the concrete outlasts the roof over it. Skip it and no amount of finishing work saves the job.

Over twenty years around concrete
Long enough to know what Florida sand does under a slab, and what a pour looks like when the base was rushed. That's why we spend so much of the day on the ground before any truck shows up.
The price gets broken down before you agree
You see what the tear out costs, what the base costs and what the pour costs, at pricing we're happy to be compared on anywhere in the Tampa Bay area. No number lands on the estimate that we can't explain standing in your driveway.
Slope and drainage set before the pour
Water is the thing that ruins concrete here, and it gets decided while the pad is still dirt. We shoot the grade so rain runs off the slab and away from the house instead of sitting against a door threshold.
Crews start at six in the morning
We're open Monday to Saturday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and in summer that early start matters. Concrete placed in the cool of the morning gets finished before the afternoon heat pulls the water out of it.
The site gets cleaned before we pull out
Forms, stakes, broken slab and washout all leave with us. Reviewers mention the cleanup more than almost anything else, which tells you how rare it is.
How a job actually runs
We look at the ground, the access for a truck, where the water goes now and what has to come out first.
You get the scope and the price in writing, by email if that's easier, so you can read it without anybody standing over you.
Old concrete comes out, the sub base gets cut out and compacted in lifts, then the forms go in and the grade gets checked again.
Concrete goes in, gets screeded flat and broom finished, and the control joints get cut before shrinkage picks its own line.

It comes down to the square footage, the thickness you need, whether there's old concrete to break out, and how close a truck can get to the pour. A straight residential drive with good access is a different number than a narrow lot where everything moves by buggy. We price it after we've seen it, and the estimate is free.
Usually yes. Pouring a thin layer over a cracked slab means the old cracks come through the new concrete, often within the first year, because the movement underneath never stopped. If the existing slab is sound and the height works, we'll tell you that too, since it saves you the demolition.
Foot traffic is usually fine after a couple of days, and a vehicle needs about a week. Concrete keeps gaining strength well past that, so we ask you to keep the heavy stuff off a fresh driveway even after it looks hard. We'll give you the dates for your pour before we leave.
Concrete shrinks as it cures, so it's going to crack somewhere. The job is deciding where, which is what the control joints are for, and cutting them early enough that the slab hasn't already picked its own line. Random cracking across a new pad usually means the joints came too late, were too shallow, or the base under it was never compacted.
Most of the time, yes, and it's a grading problem more than a concrete problem. We look at where the water is coming from and where it needs to end up, then set the fall and the step downs so it drains instead of standing against the block. On a replacement we can build the slope into the new pour.
No. The estimate is free, and we can do a good part of it online if you send measurements and photos of the area. For anything with a drainage question or a tricky access, we'd rather come out and stand on it.
